With contests, community events, and hands-on workshops, they’re not just learning—they’re connecting with a global network and flexing their problem-solving game. Under the guidance of cool mentors like Everton I. Henriques, this league is more than a club; it’s a movement that’s inspiring the next wave of innovators to get creative and seriously make their mark in tech.

At the recent Maker Faire, I bumped into Everton I. Henriques, a tech-savvy teacher at Staten Island Technical High School, rocking his amateur radio callsign KD2ZZT. This guy is all about bringing the buzz of amateur radio into the city’s engineering classroom. Everton's got that infectious energy, working to get students hands-on with electronics and communication skills that can be game-changers. He believes amateur radio can spark creativity and build real-world problem-solving chops, pushing his students to connect with each other and the tech around them. Everton isn’t just teaching; he’s inspiring the next generation to tune into innovation while keeping it real in the urban tech scene.
